At the Russian River, fall is a season full of bucolic beauty and life. With bountiful wineries going through harvest, oysters cropping up along the coast, and the misty forests winding down after the summer rush, there’s no time like fall to experience all the natural beauty and awe that Sonoma County has to offer.
That’s why we devised a perfect fall day with AutoCamp. We followed along with Bay Area artists Erin Fong of Western Editions and Meghan Shimek as they spent the day exploring AutoCamp and the Russian River Valley with our favorite sustainable Northern California brands.
MORNING
8 a.m.: Start your morning off right with a warm cup of tea enjoyed from the organic Coyuchi linens in your tent or Airstream. Or, head to the clubhouse for free coffee.
10 a.m.: Journey to Marimar Estate Vineyards for a tour of their beautiful spanish-style vineyard – complete with vine-side tastings, a look inside the operation of a sustainable winery, and a charcuterie plate to bring it all together.
AFTERNOON
1 p.m.: Take a bike down the road to Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Preserve, where you can hike along paths of centuries-old redwoods, explore vistas, and have a picnic amongst giants. Bring along local Sonoma County wine or a sustainably brewed beer in an adventure pack to sweeten the trip.
EVENING
4:30 p.m.: Head back to your suite for a quick freshen up and take some time to document your stay. You’ll want to revisit those photos again and again, trust us.
6:00 p.m.: Try cooking a full camp dinner over the fire. Sausages, sliced veggies, you name it – it always tastes better in cast iron.
7:30 p.m.: Not ready to go full camp gourmet? Time for something sweet, then.
Whether you’re a traditional chocolate-mallow-graham type, or want to get fancy with some peanut butter cups, there’s no wrong way to enjoy a s’more.
9 p.m.: Once your logs burn low and the sun sets, join us in the clubhouse for some games, or turn on your heated blanket and snuggle into bed.
