What is glamping, anyway?

Glamping is the ultimate mash-up of outdoor adventure and upscale hospitality. Imagine experiencing the outdoors without having to set up a tent or go without the creature comforts of home. You can think of it as upgraded recreation, focused on the comforts travelers expect in a hotel.

Glampers sleep in beautiful locations – just not in ordinary hotel rooms.  At glamping resorts, guests can experience luxury glamping tents, yurts, teepees, travel trailers, cabins, treehouses and fully appointed Airstream trailers.

Glamping IS:

  • Enjoying your favorite activities all day
  • Sleeping in luxury and comfort at night
  • Having the hard work handled for you
  • Bathing in a spa-like shower
  • Sharing your trip photos on Instagram with free Wi-Fi in your private suite

Glamping IS NOT:

  • Lugging around tons of camping gear
  • Setting up camp in the dark
  • Trying to start a campfire in the rain

Glamping destinations around the world offer high-end experiences focused on adventure, nature, history, and more. Just because you want to sleep under the stars or enjoy the beach doesn’t mean you have to give up  luxury bedding and spa-like bath amenities.

Escape and relax in luxury Airstream Glamping Experiences at AutoCamp

The iconic “silver bullet” Airstream trailer might be the ultimate luxurious glamping suite of them all. AutoCamp places these gems in stunning locations and lets glampers enjoy the world around them without a care. Let an AutoCamp model Airstream “glamping” trailer be your home away from home while you experience starry nights, gourmet food and drink, and incredible nightlife throughout California.

Glamping at Russian River

The AutoCamp location near the Russian River, 90 miles north of San Francisco, is set among towering redwoods near Guerneville. For glamping, it doesn’t get much better than this. Twenty-four custom-made new Airstream trailers with high-end designer interiors, plus 10 fully equipped luxury glamping tents and a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired clubhouse designed by Anacapa Architecture make for an environment that will take your breath away.

Interior designer Lauren Geremia designed the Airstream interiors, with amenities including:

  • Queen-sized luxury Casper bed
  • Hotel-class, top-shelf linens
  • Flat screen TV and audio sound system
  • Fully equipped kitchens
  • Walk-in showers
  • Sofa bed
  • Decks and fire pits

Every unit has Bluetooth audio, so guests can enjoy music in their Airstream while they are cooking dinner or enjoying a spa-inspired shower. The spa-like bathrooms feature toiletries by Ursa Major. Even the throw blankets are designer-label, made with sustainable practices by Coyuchi. Wi-Fi and gourmet coffee are always free.

You’ll also find lawn games on the property, and bikes for complimentary loan, as well as exquisite artisanal food and drinks. Just down the road are bistros, art galleries, and wine tasting rooms galore. Guests can take a private limousine tour for local wineries, with the chauffeur stopping at a local deli to help them select the perfect lunch. Glamping at Russian River is far from roughing it.

Glamping in Santa Barbara

AutoCamp Santa Barbara has been featured in travel guides such as Los Angeles Magazine, Sunset Magazine, and many more, thanks to its urban Airstream camping options. It sits just off the main drag, with easy access to the Santa Barbara Wharf, the famous Funk Zone, the Urban Wine Trail, and Santa Barbara’s majestic wine country.

AutoCamp Santa Barbara site is unique in that five gloriously restored vintage trailers have been placed adjacent to a chic, beautifully landscaped park where long-time residents still reside. Guests can kick back on their private deck, sip a fine wine, or relax in the Adirondack lounge chairs and enjoy a book.

Just like the Airstream trailers at Russian River, the suites in Santa Barbara let visitors stream their music throughout their suite. One trailer features a claw foot tub in the bathroom, but all the bathrooms feature the same luxury bath products as the Russian River glamping resort.

The designers used high end materials throughout, including:

  • Exotic hardwoods
  • Bamboo flooring
  • Carrera marble tiles
  • Hand-sanded pecan-stained birch interiors

Perhaps the most important amenity in each Airstream is the air conditioning, so glampers can enjoy Santa Barbara without roasting.

Every unit is designed to be a sanctuary for the visitor. Think “first-class” with wine country, thriving nightlife and beach scene just minutes away.

So we’re glamping at AutoCamp. What is there to do nearby?

Everything from the upscale to down-home is at your doorstep when you step out of your luxe Airstream suite at one of the two AutoCamp glamping resorts. The biggest decision you have to make all day is which adventure to choose!

Near Guerneville & Russian River, California

AutoCamp Russian River is only 30 minutes from the Pacific Ocean coastline of the Sonoma Coast. Seventeen miles of beaches separated by rocky outcrops and bluffs provide opportunities for shell hunting, whale-watching, sunbathing, and picnicking. Goat Rock Beach is also home to a colony of harbor seals, and the Sonoma Coast State Beach has many natural stone arches and secluded coves perfect for seaside activities. Bring a blanket and watch the sun set across the Pacific.

Our Russian River Airstream resort is close to the stunning Armstrong Redwood State Park. Take a leisurely float along the lazy Russian River and watch the wildlife or take a photo safari along the miles of nature trails. Visit the nearby town of Guerneville, with its rustic, renovated, and retro store fronts for some eclectic shopping. The slow, easy pace of life here makes it easy to get lost in relaxation.

No glamping trip to AutoCamp Russian River would be complete without a wine tasting tour in your private limo. The Wine Road through Northern Sonoma County takes you through sensational rolling hills and offers exquisite tasting experiences. Meet some of California’s best winemakers along this road of discovery. The “wine road” is a quest for treasures hidden in the hills and valleys. We suggest taking a jaunt down Westside road as it winds through scenery reminiscent of Tuscany.

Near Santa Barbara & Central Coast, California

Wine tasting is also a staple for glampers at AutoCamp Santa Barbara. There are opportunities in the Funk Zone, at Stearns Wharf, or on the Santa Ynez Wine Trail. Charter a private, premier wine tour – a feast for your senses, complete with stops at four to six wineries throughout the day. Walk the Urban Wine Trail in Downtown Santa Barbara and experience varieties and styles from the best vineyards in the regions.

No visit to Santa Barbara would be complete without a trip to Stearns Wharf, the 130-year-old landmark and staple of the city. Home to fishing, shops, and restaurants, the Wharf is also one of the best places to see whales and dolphins in the sea channel. Near the Wharf, guests can rent everything from a kayak to a yacht, or charter a private cruise to the Channel Islands with the Santa Barbara Sailing Center.

Enjoy fine dining in the Funk Zone, along with unique art and music venues, wine and spirit tasting, and an “Eat This, Shoot That” food and photo tour. Indulge your taste buds with artisanal food, craft beers, spirits, wine tasting, and gourmet food trucks. If you are lucky, you may also spot a celebrity or two. Luxury travel has never been this good.

At the end of the night, return to your silver haven at AutoCamp, and rest in luxury until tomorrow’s adventure. Dream of the Golden Age of Travel, when road warriors cruised along California’s Highway One, as you unplug, relax and enjoy your luxurious vacation in one of AutoCamp’s custom-designed Airstream suites.
