It started with Wally
Nature is the harmony of opposites: equal parts rough and refined, running wild and sitting still. In the 1930s, Wally Byam’s invention of the Airstream struck that harmony again, allowing anyone to access the grandeur of the outdoors without compromising on comfort. He led famous caravan voyages to some of the wildest places on Earth, all from a little hotel on wheels, and now the Airstream is the enduring icon of outdoor exploration in American culture.
AutoCamp continues that long legacy of honoring nature in the 21st century. As the exclusive hospitality partner of Airstream, we started our journey in 2013 with our first location in Santa Barbara, CA. From the outset, we always believed guests should be able to immerse themselves in nature and world-class design.
Our Story
AutoCamp guests can cook over a campfire, try a natural wine tasting, skip rocks, and skip straight to dessert in bed—all in the same day.
Today, we’re so much more than Airstreams: AutoCamp boasts nine locations, with accommodations for parties of all sizes, near some of the most iconic destinations around the country. From the Catskills to Zion and Yosemite to Asheville, we’re still blending the traditional outdoor experience with the service and design-forward thinking of a boutique hotel. We’ve even expanded to introduce our sister brand, Field Station, the indoor hotel and van life basecamp, that makes AutoCamp’s signature hospitality even more accessible.
Over the last decade, we’ve hosted tens of thousands of guests from around the world, and have earned media coverage from the likes of Oprah Magazine, Vogue, the Travel Channel, Sunset Magazine, Food and Wine, Los Angeles Magazine, Bloomberg, and many more.
