CATSKILLS

THE VINEYARD AT WINDHAM, Windham

A 30-minute drive from Earlton, The Vineyard at Windham sits on four, resplendent acres overlooking the Catskill Mountains. Soak up the views from the tasting room or patio while sampling a variety of small-batch wines including Riesling, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. In true celebration of viticulture, The Vineyard at Windham sources the best-rated wines in New York State from the Finger Lakes to the North and South Forks of Long Island, too, so there’s a wide, regional range to sample. Definitely ask for a pour of their house Dry Riesling, which took the silver medal at last year’s New York Wine Classic.

STOUTRIDGE DISTILLERY AND WINERY, Malboro

Using slow winemaking techniques and known as the only US distillery with traditional Scottish style kilning floor, Stoutridge makes for a great stop for those looking to sip on more than just wine. In addition to delightful beverages that are curated from start to finish on site, the facility is situated on a beautiful farm property. Get ready to toast to some incredible views of the fall foilage.

MILEA ESTATE VINEYARD, Staatsburg

Farming is at the root of all good wines, and Milea Estate is a true testament of both sustainable farming and premiere winemaning. On the 102-acre property, you can stroll through meadows, say hello to the resident horses, and take a look at the organic produce growing throughout. Enjoy wines that are New York State Grown and Certified – from Cabernet Franc to Blaufränkisch, your tastebuds can take a world tour through wine.

RUSSIAN RIVER

PORTER-BASS VINEYARD & WINERY, Guerneville

A western location within the Russian River Valley means cooler-weather wines like Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Zinfandel at this biodynamic vineyard. Revived in the 1980s by the Bass family, the picturesque Porter-Bass vineyard has since been almost entirely replanted according to biodynamic principles, which emphasize getting the most out of the land using just labor—not harsh chemicals or over-the-top interventions. Make a reservation for a tasting of their renowned reds and whites!

IRON HORSE, Sebastopol

This family-owned winery has a rustic vibe and panoramic views of Mt. St. Helena, a dreamy outdoor setting for sampling their sophisticated whites. Start with a taste of one of their famous sparkling wines, which have been served at The White House since the 1980s (we’re partial to the Wedding Cuvee, made from the blanc de noirs grape).

KORBEL, Guerneville

The roots of this historic winery date back to the 1800s, when the Korbel family arrived in California with the idea of bringing traditional French champagne-making techniques to the states. The results speak for themselves, and their family of sparkling wines, ranging from Brut to an Italian-style prosecco, are frequent award-winners. The sprawling vineyard includes a gourmet market offering food and snacks, as well as tastings by appointment.
