Day One: Answer the call of the redwoods
Morning
First day in Sonoma, let’s hit the ground running. Start your morning with complimentary coffee and granola at the Clubhouse, a nice-to-have that makes early wake ups (a little) more manageable.
Now let’s get going! Hop on a complimentary cruiser bike and explore the country roads near AutoCamp, or go water bound right away. Find a swim along the gentle currents of the Russian River, spotting herons, kingfishers, and playful otters if conditions allow.
Day One
Afternoon
Your first afternoon is all about the forest. Take the short drive to Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Preserve, where trails wind through thousand-year-old giants that have witnessed centuries of California history.
Start with the Discovery Trail, an accessible portion of the Armstrong Redwoods Grove Loop Trail, featuring a well-worn path showcasing stately redwoods and dense foliage. It runs past the Colonel Armstrong Tree and connects to other trails, making it an awesome starting point. Pair it with the Pioneer Nature Trail for varied hikes through the heart of the grove, and get your heart pumping a little bit more. You’ll pass awe-inspiring landmarks like Parson Jones, which soars over 310 feet tall, and Icicle, known for its incredible burl formations that can weigh several tons. Just make sure your phone is charged and storage is cleared—you’ll want photo proof of these icons.
Day One
Evening
After a quick reset back at AutoCamp, head to Saucy Mama’s for Southern-inspired comfort food with a Northern California edge. We’re talking gumbo, jambalaya, fried chicken, and other soul food classics that will have you right as rain for another day of exploring.

Day Two: Paddle and sip your way through the Russian River Valley
Morning
Day two calls for a little indulgence: sleeping in. Luckily, with nature all around and ultra-comfy beds, that’s the easiest part.
When you’re ready to get going in pursuit of adventure, break away from the crowd and explore Sonoma County by kayak. Paddle beside the seals in the beautiful Russian River, exploring some of the most beautiful views in the world. Taking a kayaking tour is a fantastic way to slow down and relax while seeing a side of Sonoma that many miss. Guided kayak tours are available with Smart Tours, just down the river in the town of Jenner.
Pro-tip: If you’d like them to take care of the driving for the day, they are happy to arrange for your transportation to and from AutoCamp!
Day Two
Afternoon
Once you’ve reset, make your way to Gary Farrell Vineyards & Winery in Healdsburg, the heart of the Russian River Valley. Between the sweeping vineyard views and standout Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays, it’s easy to lose track of time. Go for a curated tasting flight or sip by the glass.
Another one of our favorites in the Russian River Valley: Croix Estate Winery, where single-vineyard Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs, and Estate Zinfandels meet modern design and soft light. Tastings are appointment-only, so plan ahead, and you’ll be rewarded with a relaxed, boutique experience that feels personal and a little bit exclusive.
Adventurer perk: These two wineries offer complimentary tastings for AutoCamp guests (up to four per visit)!
Day Two
Evening
Spend the evening however you’d like. Maybe a nap, maybe a cruise along Sonoma’s gorgeous backroads towards the tucked away towns like Occidental and Freestone. Either way, return to AutoCamp before sunset for a little downtime. Tonight’s the night to pick out a board game from the Clubhouse and make some new friends over s’mores. (How picturesque is that?!)

Day Three: Oyster shooters and scenic drives
Morning
On your last day, it’s a little bit of everything you haven’t seen yet (or didn’t get enough of). Grab a coffee from the Clubhouse and start with a scenic drive along the magnificent Sonoma Coast ending in delicious seafood. The Fall is prime time for oysters, but we’ll take them any time of year. The coastal town of Bodega Bay delivers the goods—fresh, plump, barbecued, and shucked to order bayside at The Birds Cafe. Get a dozen, add a glass of chilled white (or another coffee!), and lunch is sorted. Did we mention their fish tacos?
Day Three
Afternoon
Full and happy, take the slow route back along the cost and through the redwoods for one last chance to savor the sights. Take the time to make a stop along the way at Duncan’s Landing Overlook and soak in the best sight of the Sonoma Coast you’ll find. If you’re looking for more, stop at Shell Beach for a hike along the Pomo Canyon Trailhead in Sonoma Coast State Park. Here you’ll experience coastal views mixed with old growth Redwood groves and ancient ferns. Before you turn back into the Redwood canopy homeward bound to AutoCamp Sonoma, walk along the sand at Goat Rock State Beach, where the Russian River flows into the Pacific Ocean.
Day Three
Evening
Back at AutoCamp Sonoma, enjoy a final spin on a complimentary bike or gather for a toast beneath the towering trees. Still have room for a sweet treat? S’mores kits are calling your name. Who can resist an ooey, gooey, perfectly toasted marshmallow? Not us. After three days, it’s clear: AutoCamp Sonoma makes it easy to take it slow, and even harder to leave.
