Crackling campfires, hot cups of cocoa, and a cozy, festive Clubhouse. There’s something so magical about visiting AutoCamp in the winter.
While winter at our AutoCamp locations may look different depending on the landscape, one thing is for certain: it is the perfect season for a nature retreat. Enjoy fewer crowds, fresh snowfall, and festive happenings.
Need some ideas for an epic family vacation? Looking for some romantic getaway inspo? Here are a few of our favorite cold-weather activities and seasonal offerings across all of our AutoCamp locations. And, regardless of how you spend your days, rest assured that all of our Cabins and Airstreams are winterized, so you’ll be greeted by a warm suite.
Enjoy a warm beverage by the fire
Starting in December, get in the holiday spirit with our complimentary hot cocoa and cider bar. Head to the Clubhouse for a toasty drink, and settle in by the indoor fire pit for a cozy evening. (Pro tip: spike your cocoa with a shot from the Kitchen!)
Holiday Festivities
Across all AutoCamp locations, you’ll be greeted with a warm and festive Clubhouse. Cozy up by the fireplace and a twinkling Christmas tree, decorate ornaments, play board games, open a bottle of wine, and share in the merriment of the season with your favorite people.
Family-Friendly Arts & Crafts
At AutoCamp Cape Cod and Catskills, enjoy holiday-themed themed family-friendly arts and crafts all season long. Decorate ornaments to bring home with you using pinecones and other foraged materials at AutoCamp Cape Cod, or head to AutoCamp Catskills for cookie decorating and twig ornaments.
Experience peak stargazing
Winter is the best season for stargazing. Long nights and cold air lead to incredibly clear night skies. With the sun setting early, it’s also an activity the whole family can enjoy together. Head to Joshua Tree, Zion, or Yosemite National Park for prime dark skies. The parks are much less crowded during the winter months, which makes stargazing adventures even more special.
Explore snow activities in the Catskills
AutoCamp Catskills is located near several upstate ski destinations, and there are plenty of snow sports to enjoy within driving distance or right on property, like renting our complimentary snow shoes and hiking through the gorgeous trails right from AutoCamp. Check out our AutoCamp Snow Sports Guide for the full scoop on what to do in the area. If you’re interested in a day trip, travel north to Lake George for an ice castle experience.
Take in Yosemite’s winter wonderland sights
Our friends at Wildland Trekking are offering a special winter half-day tour of Yosemite National Park. With guided light hikes – or snowshoeing if the weather allows – you can learn about the park’s history, while getting a hearty dose of crisp, mountain air.
New Years Eve celebrations
