Moonbows
An extremely rare occurrence, moonbows are just like rainbows, created by the bright light of the moon. At Yosemite, the light of the moon shines through the mist of a Yosemite’s abundance of waterfalls. Perfect for photographers of all kinds, the moonbows aren’t always visible to the naked eye but show up on film and digital exposures. Grab your camera and keep your eye out for the full moon!
Waterfalls
After the snow melts, Yosemite National Park’s waterfalls are in full force! With ten major waterfalls and numerous smaller falls, Yosemite is the ultimate place to see these magnificent (and very photogenic) natural water features.
Wildflowers
You’ll find an abundance of wildflowers popping up all around Yosemite in the spring. California wildflowers, such as lupin, poppies, meadowfoam, and redbud trees are in full bloom during this time of year. Head out on a hike or a simple stroll to see the variety of colors that these wildflowers have to offer.
Mirror Lake Hike
A meadow during the dry seasons, Mirror Lake is full of water by spring. Named after it’s beautiful reflection of Half Dome, Mirror Lake boasts a two-mile, flat hike that takes about an hour to complete. Perfect for all ability levels!
Secret swimming holes
Although a little chilly, take a dip after a long hike in one of Yosemite’s handful of secret swimming holes. Not always easy to find, but definitely worth the search, Yosemite swimming holes can be found with breathtaking views. These watering holes will be full with snowmelt in the spring!
Hike Half Dome
See Yosemite in its most beautiful state from one of the highest and most breathtaking points. This time of year offers optimal temperatures for this monumental hike. Not too hot and not too cold!
